The Coca-Cola system contributes BAM 421.8 million annually to the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina through its operations, equivalent to 0.7% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), according to the new Socio-Economic Impact Study of Coca-Cola in Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2025. Of the total economic contribution, the Coca-Cola system directly generates BAM 96 million in value added, while an additional BAM 325.8 million is generated through the indirect effects of its operations.
This represents a 40% increase in its contribution to the country’s GDP compared to the 2023 Study.
The findings of the study highlight Coca-Cola system’s significant contribution to economic development, employment and value creation throughout its value chain. More than 71% of every convertible mark spent on Coca-Cola products remains within the domestic economy. The Coca-Cola system also supports the generation of BAM 157 million in annual tax revenues across its value chain, representing 1.4% of the country’s total tax revenues.
“Coca-Cola has been present in Bosnia and Herzegovina for almost six decades, and the success of our business has always depended on the trust and collaboration of our partners. We work with 447 local suppliers and more than 16,000 customers, and this study demonstrates the value we create together, as well as our shared contribution to the strength of the BH economy and the competitiveness of local businesses. Our commitment to the market is reflected in our local production operations and continued investments in our Sarajevo production facility, where we produce more than 83% of the non-alcoholic beverages, we place on the market.”, said Dimitris Rompis, General Manager of Coca-Cola HBC Adria.
In 2025, the Coca-Cola system continued supporting community projects, allocating more than BAM 200,000 to initiatives focused on environmental action and youth empowerment, including “Recycle Me. Give Me a New Life.”, “Coca-Cola Youth Empowered” and “Raise the Bar Youth”. Over the past five years the Coca-Cola system’s total investment in community initiatives in Bosnia and Herzegovina has exceeded BAM 900,000.
„Our commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina goes beyond the beverages we produce. This study demonstrates the scale of the value created through our business. Our System impact is best reflected in the job creation: while we directly employ 294 people, our operations support 13,300 jobs—1% of the nation’s total workforce, meaning every single role at Coca-Cola sustains 45 additional jobs across our value chain. Together with our employees, customers, suppliers, and partners, we are proud to contribute to economic growth, support livelihoods, and create a lasting positive impact for the communities we serve. This is how we bring our purpose to life: refreshing consumers while making a meaningful difference,” emphasized Bogdan Chirita, General Manager of The Coca-Cola Company Adria.
The Study’s findings were presented in Sarajevo to representatives of institutions, the business and academic communities, partners and the media. Following the presentation, a panel discussion entitled “Competitiveness and Local Partnerships in Times of Global Change” explored the role of long-term partnerships, local value chains and public-private cooperation in strengthening the competitiveness of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s economy.
Panel participants were Prof. Dr. Hatidža Jahić, economist and Adviser to the Bosniak Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Eldar Čomor, Mayor of Hadžići Municipality; Darko Drežnjak, President of the Management Board of Konzum BH; and Bogdan Chirita, General Manager of The Coca-Cola Company Adria. Panelists addressed the challenges facing the competitiveness of BH’s economy amid global economic changes, highlighting the importance of local partnerships and the role of large companies in creating long-term economic and social value.
