The fourth season of Coca-Cola's “Recycle Me. Give Me a New Life.” project, implemented in partnership with Konzum, the Pika Card, and the CETAP Project, has successfully concluded. A record of almost quarter million PET bottles were collected, demonstrating that the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina recognize the importance of proper packaging waste disposal and are increasingly embracing more sustainable everyday habits.
During the six-week campaign, from 13 June to 18 July 2026, citizens deposited a total of 249,367 PET bottles at seven collection points in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Tuzla, Zenica, and Mostar. As a reward for their participation, BAM 24,936.70 in BONUS marks was credited to their Pika Cards.
“The continuous year-on-year growth in both the number of PET bottles collected and the number of participants clearly shows that an increasing number of citizens are actively engaging in collecting recyclable waste. For us, this is a clear indication that investing in environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility initiatives is both justified and effective. It is especially encouraging to see that awareness of the importance of recycling, and of the role each of us plays in protecting the environment, continues to grow every year. We would like to thank all of our project partners, each of whom contributed within their respective areas of expertise to this year's outstanding results. Our special thanks go to all the citizens who took part and demonstrated that, by working together, we can make meaningful progress towards a more sustainable future. Every bottle collected represents an important step in closing the loop of collecting, processing, and reusing packaging,” said Igor Zgrabljić, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Coca-Cola HBC Adria.
Citizens who brought PET packaging to selected Konzum stores across the country earned BONUS marks credited to their Pika Cards, once again successfully combining environmentally responsible behaviour with tangible benefits for participants.
“The results we have achieved together with our customers confirm that responsible packaging waste management is becoming part of the everyday habits of an increasing number of citizens. Through their engagement, our customers have demonstrated that small changes in daily behaviour can make a significant difference for both the community and the environment. We are proud to continue, through our partnership with Coca-Cola HBC B-H, to foster a culture of responsible resource management and support initiatives that contribute to sustainable development,” said Adisa Zimić, Head of Marketing at Konzum.
This year's edition of the project was joined by the CETAP project, "Technical Assistance for Improved Material Recovery from Waste through Separate Collection, Reuse and Recycling Based on Circular Economy Principles," funded by the European Union. The project's objective is to support Bosnia and Herzegovina in aligning its waste management practices with the European Green Deal and the principles of the circular economy.
The results achieved across the project's different editions over the past five years confirm that awareness of the importance of recycling in Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to grow, with an increasing number of citizens recognizing the value of the circular economy and the importance of separate waste collection and recycling.
The project derives additional value from the fact that all collected PET packaging was collected, processed, and recycled in accordance with the highest recycling standards by project partners Ekopak and Eurobeta, ensuring that the material was returned to the production cycle and given a new purpose.
