Coca-Cola's initiative Recycle me. Give me a new life. at the 30th  Sarajevo Film Festival resulted in 17 tons of collected waste

The fourth edition of Coca-Cola's initiative Recycle me. Give me a new life. at the Sarajevo Film Festival yielded excellent results. During the eight days of the Festival, in the period August 16 to 23, more then 17 tons of waste were collected at 21 locations with installed bins. More precisely, 5452 kg of PET packaging, 2336 kg of cans, 5184 kg of glass and 2518 kg of cardboard/paper were collected for recycling as well as 1546 kg of mixed waste. All collected waste was sent for recycling in cooperation with the Cantonal Communal Service Company RAD and “Ekopak” Company.

The continuity of good results and positive effects of the initiative is proof that partnerships and investments in innovation are the best path to creating changes and developing the local community in which we operate," said Bruno Jelić, Director of the Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Department of Coca-Cola HBC Adria.

Containers that were reused during the 30th  Sarajevo Film Festival were produced last year from recycled plastic, using 612 kg of recycled material was used for their production. In addition to 51 containers, divided into 17 sets of three - for plastic, for cans and for mixed waste, the infrastructure also consisted of four sets of barrels, according to the same principle of waste separation for further recycling.

Coca-Cola's initiative Recycle me. Give me a new life. is part of the global World without waste programme, focused on development of new habits for proper disposal of packaging waste and on education on importance of waste recycling for preservation of resources and environment. It is one of Coca-Cola’s projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina used for active finding and applying solutions for the packaging related challenges.
