The result of this year's activities of Coca-Cola's Recycle Me. Give me a new life. project within the Sarajevo Film Festival - in eight days, more than 19 tons of waste were collected separately for recycling - plastic packaging, cans, paper and glass, and almost 77 tons of mixed waste were collected and deposited.
Thirty of the busiest locations in the city were equipped with Coca-Cola containers and barrels for separate waste collection during the Sarajevo Film Festival. The utility company "Rad" was hired for the collection and removal of waste, and the company "Ekopak" will take care of the recycling of plastic packaging and other separately collected recyclable materials. The results clearly indicate that citizens are willing and ready to change their habits and sort their waste so that it can be recycled.
- For more than 25 years, Coca-Cola has been in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the Sarajevo Film Festival. Therefore, it was logical to strengthen our partnership through an initiative such as Recycle me. Give me a new life. at last year's Festival. The Sarajevo Film Festival is the largest and most influential manifestation of culture and art in the country, and our responsible and sustainable business practices have ensured that we promote the culture of responsible and sustainable living through joint efforts. This was also shown by this year's results in the amount of separately collected waste, which exceeded last year's" - said Bruno Jelić, Director of the Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Department of Coca-Cola HBC Adria.
One of the strategic commitments of Coca-Cola in Bosnia and Herzegovina are clearly set goals related to reducing the impact on the environment. Recycle me. Give me a new life. and other projects such as From source to the Sea are environmental initiatives through which the company achieves these socially responsible goals. Over the past 10 years, Coca-Cola has reduced the weight of the plastic bottles produced in its plant by a total of 7%. An innovation in the production facility is a new type of plastic cap which, based on a 26% lighter weight, will contribute to reducing the use of plastic by almost 50 tons in 2022.
Activities within the Recycle Me. Give me a new life. initiative and the global World without waste program are aimed at creating new habits for proper disposal and sorting of waste, as well as educating and raising citizens' awareness of the importance of waste recycling for the preservation of resources and the environment. Coca-Cola in Bosnia and Herzegovina is finding and applying solutions related to packaging challenges.
