Thanks to Coca-Cola's Recycle Me. Give me a new life. initiative during the previous two Sarajevo Film Festivals, more than 100 tons of waste were collected and forwarded to municipal companies for further processing and recycling. This important initiative continues at the 29th Sarajevo Film Festival.
At the busiest locations in Sarajevo during the period of the Festival (from August 11 to 18), 17 containers consisting of three units for sorting waste will be placed: for plastic bottles, for cans and for mixed waste. All collected waste, in cooperation with the Cantonal Public Utility Company RAD and the company "Ekopak", will be disposed of, and all separately collected recyclable waste will be recycled.
"We are proud of our decades-long partnership with Coca-Cola in Bosnia and Herzegovina and especially of our joint commitment to reducing environmental impact through the Recycle Me. Give me a new life. initiative, which became an important and recognizable segment of the Sarajevo Film Festival. The fact is that in Coca-Cola we have a loyal and strong partner for the Green Festival initiative, which is our response to the challenges of extreme pollution and global climate change, through which the Sarajevo Film Festival has been actively working to reduce its carbon footprint for the third year in a row. Caring for the environment is one of the priorities of sustainable development, and the Sarajevo Film Festival, which gathers more than 100,000 people during the duration of the Festival, in cooperation with partners such as Coca-Cola, is definitely an opportunity to show through activities that we can and should do better," pointed out director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, Jovan Marjanović.
Recycle me. Give me a new life. initiative is part of the global program World without waste, which aims to create new habits, educate and raise awareness among citizens about the importance of proper disposal, sorting and recycling of waste.
"Coca-Cola's partnership with the Sarajevo Film Festival has been going on for 27 years. We launched the Recycle Me. Give me a new life. initiative three years ago in order to enrich the partnership with the Festival with an action important for the entire community and achieved excellent results. We are happy that the initiative has become an indispensable and strategically important part of the Festival and the mission of the largest and most important festival in the region to achieve carbon neutrality. For Coca-Cola in Bosnia and Herzegovina, this is an additional opportunity to continue promoting sustainable and responsible practices by reducing the impact on the environment in the communities in which we operate", emphasized Bruno Jelić, Director of the Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Department at Coca-Cola HBC Adria.
One of Coca-Cola's strategic commitments in Bosnia and Herzegovina are clearly set goals related to reducing the impact on the environment. Recycle me. Give me a new life. and other environmental initiatives and practices are ways in which Coca-Cola achieves these socially responsible goals.
