Once again, 20 young people got the chance to gain (first) work experience at Coca‑Cola this year

Sarajevo, 12th July 2017 – Coca‑Cola’s summer youth internship program Coke Summership 2017 kicked off today with the formal introduction of the second generation of participants coming from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina. From 12th July to 18th August they will have the opportunity to further develop and improve their professional and personal skills, and obtain their first work experience at Coca‑Cola. The program provides the participants with a combination of education, training and mentoring, enabling them to obtain practical knowledge through work on actual projects. The program was launched for the first time ever in Bosnia and Herzegovina by Coca‑Cola HBC B-H Sarajevo last year. Inspired and motivated by the interest garnered and success achieved by last year’s Coke Summership, which resulted in five of the participants being employed by Coca‑Cola HBC B-H Sarajevo and two getting jobs in its partner companies, the summer internship program continues this year with 20 new participants.

“For the second year in a row, within the framework of Coca‑Cola’s Youth Empowerment Program, Coca‑Cola HBC B-H Sarajevo is realising its second Coke Summership program and continuing to support the youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We want to encourage young people to contribute to community development with their work. The interest shown by youth in last year’s program and its results are evidence that we have created a good opportunity for obtaining practical professional experience. We begin Coke Summership 2017 aspiring to have another successful year, both for us, as we will provide concrete, useful and applicable knowledge, and for this year’s participants who will increase their chances for employment by obtaining actual work experience”, said Adnan Topić, the Sales and Franchise Director of Coca‑Cola HBC B-H Sarajevo. He added that he is looking forward to once again having the Coca‑Cola employees share and pass on their knowledge and experience with the trainees. “Embrace Coke Summership as an opportunity to improve your skills and abilities, which are required in the increasingly demanding job market. You will be a part of the Coca‑Cola family for the next six weeks, and, we believe, you are the further leaders of our community”, he said addressing the participants.

The youth unemployment rate in Bosnia and Herzegovina has reached an extreme high, placing it at the top of the list of our society’s priorities.

About the Coke Summership program

The Coca‑Cola HBC B-H Sarajevo implements the Coke Summership project within its Youth Empowerment Program, which provides support to the society in solving employment issues. The first generation of participants rated the Coke Summership program as an excellent platform for career development and appropriate channel for the affirmation of young talented people. Thanks to the program, seven participants received their first employment in 2016. The project is implemented with the backing and endorsement of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Labor and Employment Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Canton Sarajevo Employment Agency, and with the support of the project’s friends: the universities in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Tuzla, Mostar and Vitez, the International Burch University, the faculties of economy in Sarajevo, Bihać, East Sarajevo and Tuzla, the student organisations EESTEC, IAESTE LC Sarajevo, the Students Association of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Tuzla, the students association Best from Mostar, and the portal studomat.ba.
