A cooperation agreement, continuing a long- term partnership in organisation of the Sarajevo half-marathon, was signed today in Sarajevo by Coca‑Cola HBC B-H d.o.o. Sarajevo General Manager Mircea Draja, Intesa Sanpaolo Bank dd B-H General Manager Almir Krkalic and NGO Marathon Director Erol Mujanovic.
Marking World Car Free day, the 4th Intesa Sanpaolo – Olimpija half-marathon will be held on Sunday, 19 September. A record number of runners, more than 400 from 25 countries, are expected to participate in this 21.1 km long race and run the streets of the most attractive parts of Sarajevo.
"We are very proud of the fact that from the very beginning we participate and partner in the event that every year brings more participants, and that we partner in promotion of an active lifestyle and importance of environment protection in Bosnia and Herzegovina. By partnering with the NGO Marathon Coca‑Cola HBC B-H d.o.o. Sarajevo helps in achieving the vision Sarajevo-Marathon City, and at the same time contribute to the quality of life of the community we serve "said Mircea Draja General Manager of Coca‑Cola HBC B-H d.o.o. Sarajevo.
Apart from the promotion of an active lifestyle and environmental awareness, this year’s race has a humanitarian character - the earnings of the 4th half marathon will be donated to the Growing Up Creative Center. This Center, with its scholarship programme and projects, works on improving lives of the socially most vulnerable category of children and youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Erol Mujanovic, Director of the NGO Marathon, said, "We hope that other organisations and companies will follow our example and that of our partners. Education of children in BiH needs the support of all of us. We are pleased that this year we will have a record number of participants, which means that our contribution to the Centre will be higher."
The 4th Intesa Sanpaolo – Olimpija half-marathon will be held under the auspices of the Mayor of Sarajevo and City Administration, and supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Sarajevo Canton.
