Coca‑Cola was once again the main partner in organising the biggest cycling event in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a part of Movement Is Happiness program which aims at supporting active lifestyle.
Sarajevo, 8 September, 2014 – The 7th cycling tour “Giro di Sarajevo” took place on Sunday, 7 September, 2014. This year, the cycling route Vijećnica – Dobrinja – Vilsonovo šetalište, attracted more than 2,000 participants.
Apart from the traditional recreational cycling, the speed race “Giro Drag Race” was organised in Sarajevo for the first time this year. It is a new activity in the years long campaign for promoting active living and cycling in Sarajevo. This year's Giro di Sarajevo coordinator, Loren Keserović, said that “Giro Drag Race” is something completely new for all lovers of cycling competitions, who are otherwise not able to participate due to the licensing procedure and rigorous rules. “With this new race, we wanted to enrich the project and show that cycling could be fun, even through a competition. Our goal is to spread positive energy by cycling and to remind people of the benefits of active living. I must emphasise that we are particularly happy to have gathered more than 2000 citizens who had a great time”, he added.
After yet another successfully organised event, Alma Šahbaz, the Communication and Community Relation Manager at Coca‑Cola HBC B-H Sarajevo said: “For the fourth time in a row, Cola-Cola has been a proud partner of “Giro di Sarajevo”, the most popular recreational cycling race in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In cooperation with the Association “Giro di Sarajevo”, this cycling event successfully promotes active and healthy lifestyle, offering the participants an opportunity to meet their fellow cyclists, socialise and have lot of fun. We are particularly happy to see that every year more and more participants from all around the country join this event. We are also proud of the 30 Coca‑Cola employees who took part in this year's cycling – so far, this is the biggest Coca‑Cola cycling team.”
Aiming at supporting projects that promote active lifestyle, which are being carried out within the Coca‑Cola Movement is Happiness program, Coca‑Cola provided refreshments for all the participants of the 7th “Giro di Sarajevo”, as well as valuable presents for the luckiest ones. Partnership in this project is an example of a successful cooperation in designing and implementing socially responsible projects that promote the importance of movement, active living and healthcare.
