Outdoor Fitness Day gathered more than 2000 Tuzla residents.
Tuzla, 15th September 2016 – Established in partnership with the City of Tuzla, the Workers’ Sport Union Sloboda (RSD Sloboda) and Coca‑Cola HBC B-H Sarajevo, numerous activities within the sports-recreational manifestation Movement for Joy – Fitness Day gathered more than 2000 participants this year, as well. A large number of citizens joined the manifestation held at the open field of the Tuzla Teen Centre Telex (TTC Telex), the largest number of them being students from elementary and high schools in Tuzla. The recreational basketball game, held between the teams Sprite and Coca‑Cola, aroused euphoria and drew special attention after a dynamic warm up with different fitness programs.
“In the name of the City of Tuzla, I would like to thank all our partners involved in the realisation of the fitness day. We recognise the importance of sport, and that is why we have been supporting the Workers’ Sport Union Sloboda from the very beginning, both as the initiator of this project and the most important participator of sport life in Tuzla. The results of the Tuzla-based athletes clearly show that we are a sport force that deserves to be counted on. What is important is that this project also found its partners outside the institutions, such as Coca‑Cola HBC B-H Sarajevo, and by doing so, it showed that we can jointly improve the quality of life in the city”, said Vedran Lakić, Assistant Mayor of the City of Tuzla.
Movement for Joy – Fitness Day was held for a third time in a row. Including the two previous events, it gathered more than 7500 participants of all generations in companionship, recreation, education and promotion of movement, but also in raising the awareness about the importance of environmental protection, selective garbage collection and recycling.
By supporting the local community in establishing a traditional event intended for all generations, Coca‑Cola wants to contribute to community development.
“We are glad that for a third year in a row, together with the City of Tuzla, the team from the Workers’ Sport Union Sloboda and other partners, we organise one of the largest sports events in our country. The project Movement for Joy was initiated by Coca‑Cola HBC B-H Sarajevo aiming at the promotion of an active lifestyle and supporting a project of importance for the city. We found truly great partners in the City Administration of Tuzla and RSD Sloboda. I am happy that this is one of those projects promoting and indicating the importance of public-private partnership in the realisation of socially responsible projects important for the community. We are proud of this partnership, and the growing number of participants and project partners from year to year indicate that we are doing a good job”, pointed out Mirza Selimhodžić, Sales Director of Coca‑Cola HBC B-H Sarajevo for the Tuzla region.
The program of a sport-recreational character with free contents for participants aims to promote movement and recreation. The Fitness Day’s partners prepared exercising and dancing workshops, presentations of various sports and exercising programs, measurement of the body mass index and physical condition, as well as promotion of numerous RSD Sloboda’s sections from where top-level athletes and members of the Bosnian national team originated. Beside the recreational aspect of the event, the importance of a conscious and responsible waste management and environmental protection was pointed out to the participants.
Besides the City of Tuzla and the Workers’ Sport Union Sloboda, the Movement for Joy – Fitness Day event was supported by the following partners: Pedagogical Institution of the Tuzla Canton, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Tuzla Canton, Association Medicus, Ekopak, JKP Komunalac, Medical Centre Tuzla – Polyclinic for Sport Medicine, Association of Educators in Physical and Health Education of the Tuzla Canton, RTV7, City of Tuzla’s Red Cross, Students Association of the Medical High School Tuzla, Anti-doping Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ADA BiH), Special Olympics Bosnia and Herzegovina, New Event and DJ Vanyano.
